Amateur Ghost asked me to design artwork for three of their latest single releases; 'All My Heroes (Have Great Moustaches)', 'Sociopath', and 'Walking'. I had free rein on this one. The band sent over the three unreleased tracks for inspiration.
I love it when a client trusts me to do something with little direction, but it's a double-edged sword. Limitless options make it more difficult to hone into a single idea.
I spent a lot of time listening to the tracks and scribbling down notes and mini-sketches before settling on the final idea - a series of hand-drawn illustrations.
WalkingWhen talking to one of the band members, they said it'd be cool if the pieces linked in some way, but that wasn't a dealbreaker. I leant into this, settled on an art style, and headed down the avenue of creating a linked piece.
It's far from original, but the idea is a hero, a villain, and the final battle that plays out in the background of the final piece. I also snuck a bunch of Easter Eggs in the third design.
